Coventry Beer Festival 2018
Thank you to all of you that braved the weather to attend this year.
The March date was a change to the more usual date in April. The festival had to be brought forward in order to avoid a clash with CAMRA’s national AGM and Members’ Weekend to be held in April this year at the University of Warwick. Unfortunately, the weather was not on our side!
This year's festival featured 75 real ales with a key cask stand appearing for the first time. All the draught beers for sale were made from natural ingredients with no artificial additives and some were vegan-friendly. Coventry brewers Twisted Barrel supplied four beers from their portfolio. They, along with other local breweries Dhillons, Byatts and Church End, featured in the stillage and, as well as beers from Peterborough and Leicester, there were many beers from the North East, the Edinburgh area, the South West, Kent, Surrey and Sussex. Many tiny and/or new breweries, some being nano-breweries (i.e. very small breweries!) set up at the back of pubs, were available for the first time in Coventry and a huge range of different styles were on offer, ranging from cinnamon stouts to saisons and strong IPAs to cherry mild.
A variety of farmhouse ciders, perries, and fruit wines were also available.
